These Terms govern your use of Skillfora ("we", "our", "the Platform"). By creating an account or using the Platform, you accept these Terms. If you don't accept them, please don't use the Platform. They apply alongside our Privacy Policy and Service & Payment Terms.
Skillfora is an online marketplace that connects students with Independent Instructors for live, one-on-one tutoring sessions in digital and professional skills. We provide the platform, video infrastructure, and payment processing. We do not employ instructors and we are not responsible for the educational content, accuracy, or outcome of any individual session.
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, you confirm that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed these Terms and consents to your use of the Platform.
You agree to provide accurate registration information and keep it current. You are responsible for all activity under your account.
You may register as a Student (someone who books sessions) or as an Independent Instructor (someone who teaches sessions). Independent Instructors are not employees, agents, or partners of Skillfora — they are independent service providers contracting through the Platform. Pricing, payouts, content ownership, refund mechanics, and other commercial details are in the Service & Payment Terms.
Sessions are offered in four standard durations: 30 minutes, 1 hour, 1.5 hours, and 2 hours. Minimum prices scale with duration, starting at USD 3 for 1 hour. The Platform charges a fixed 25% commission on every session. Skillfora does not collect or withhold tax of any kind on your behalf — you are responsible for your own tax compliance.
Full pricing rules, payout schedules, and the rationale for the minimum are in the Service & Payment Terms.
Skillfora supports two booking flows:
A session is considered "completed" when both parties join the video call and the scheduled duration has elapsed, or when the recorded video (where recording is enabled) confirms substantive teaching took place.
A session is considered "failed" if:
Failed sessions are eligible for a refund as set out in the Service & Payment Terms. Completed sessions are not refundable except under the conditions described there.
Cloud recording is available on every session. The student decides whether a session is recorded — they make this choice at the time of booking. The instructor does not control this decision. Once a session has started, the recording status is fixed.
When a session is being recorded, both parties will see a "● Recording" indicator throughout. Recordings are accessible to the student, the instructor, and Skillfora's authorised platform administrators. Storage, access, and deletion rules are in the Privacy Policy.
Sessions that are not recorded carry reduced dispute-resolution protection — without a recording, claims about session quality or content may be harder to substantiate.
Sharing personal contact information (phone, email, messaging-app handles) and conducting business outside the Platform is prohibited by these Terms. The reasons include user safety, platform integrity, our ability to mediate disputes, and the integrity of our pricing and commission model.
While we do not actively monitor private chats for contact-sharing, repeated or flagrant violations brought to our attention (for example, a user soliciting off-platform payment to avoid commission) may result in warnings or account termination. Any session arranged or paid for outside Skillfora is not covered by our refund policy or any other Platform protection.
This section sets out what is and isn't allowed on Skillfora. It applies to students and instructors equally. Violations may result in warnings, suspension, or termination.
You may not advertise, request, or deliver tutoring on:
You may not:
If you witness or experience a violation, report it to support@skillfora.com with the user's profile link and any evidence. We review reports manually and respond within 3 business days. Serious violations (harassment, fraud, illegal content) will trigger immediate suspension pending investigation.
Violations may result in any of: a written warning, reduced search ranking, temporary suspension, permanent ban, refund of affected sessions to students, withholding of earnings pending investigation, and — for illegal conduct — referral to relevant authorities.
We may suspend or terminate any account that violates these Terms. On termination:
Disputes between a student and an instructor are reviewed manually by Skillfora's team. Either party may submit a dispute by emailing support@skillfora.com within the timeframe stated in the Service & Payment Terms. Our decision, based on the session recording (where one exists), chat history, and evidence submitted, is final for purposes of refund and payout on the Platform.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Skillfora's total liability to any user, for any and all claims arising from or related to use of the Platform, is limited to the total fees that user paid to or earned through Skillfora in the six months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost income, lost data, or career or business outcomes.
We do not guarantee specific learning outcomes, employment, freelance work, certifications, or financial results from using the Platform. Sessions are educational services — what each participant takes from them depends on their own effort and the chemistry between student and instructor.
You agree to indemnify and hold Skillfora harmless from any claim, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these Terms, your violation of any law, or your infringement of any third party's rights through your use of the Platform.
Skillfora uses cookies and similar technologies to operate the Platform, remember your login, and (with your consent) measure how the Platform is used.
The Platform sets cookies from itself (skillfora.com) and from Google Analytics. We do not allow advertising networks or social-media platforms to set tracking cookies on Skillfora.
You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent login and core features from working.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email and through an in-Platform notice at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
Skillfora is an international platform serving users in multiple countries. Any dispute, controversy, or claim arising out of or relating to these Terms, including their validity, interpretation, or termination, that cannot be resolved by good-faith negotiation between the parties shall be referred to and finally resolved by binding arbitration under internationally recognised commercial arbitration rules. The arbitration shall be conducted in English, by a single arbitrator, and the award shall be final and binding on the parties and enforceable in any court of competent jurisdiction.
Nothing in this section prevents a party from seeking urgent injunctive or equitable relief from a court of competent jurisdiction to protect intellectual property, confidential information, or to prevent imminent harm pending arbitration.
If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force and effect. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and the Service & Payment Terms, constitute the entire agreement between you and Skillfora regarding use of the Platform.
